Thank you so much for your time, energy, and support in making your school’s Walking School Bus a reality.
In this portal you will find everything you need for your Parent Coordinator training, as well as Daily Walk resources.

Onboarding
Open the folder labelled Parent Coordinator Onboarding. This contains all the documents we need to have on file to keep a record of your volunteer participation as a WSB Parent Coordinator. Download these 5 files, complete them, and send all 5 forms to us at your earliest convenience.
A note about Criminal Record Checks: In the list of onboarding documents, there is a form with information on how to complete a criminal record check. All SCY employees and volunteers are required to have a cleared CRC on file. If you need more guidance on completing this process please let us know and we will assist you.

Training
Once you’ve sent your onboarding documents to us, you can move on to training. Open the folder labelled WSB Training and work through all the materials in the folder. These are all of the training materials needed to complete the online portion of your Walking School Bus training.
You must complete the training quiz, listed last in this folder, once you have worked your way through the materials.
WSB Daily Resources
Open the folder labelled WSB Daily Resources and save these links on your phone to easily access them before and after walks.
Feel free tor review the Additional WSB Resources folder, where we have provided supplementary training and documents related to your role with the Walking School Bus.
A Walking School Bus is an organized group of children who walk to school together with the support of one or more adult Walk Leaders. This community-based program is free for participants, and we rely on volunteers to get the initiative “rolling” each day!
As a Parent Coordinator, your role is to:

- Help recruit walk leaders and volunteers for your school
- Help recruit students to participate in the Walking School Bus
- Coordinate with the SCY staff to deliver training for all walk leaders and volunteers
- Schedule walk leaders and volunteers to fill all walking school bus shifts
- Provide support and oversight to walk leaders throughout the school year
- Assist in delivering surveys about the program
- Keep the SCY staff informed of project progress, key developments, participant feedback, and other relevant information
